Chris Elliot Talks 'The Tonight Show' on Letterman: 'That Show is for Morons' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 2nd 2011 4:17AM
Chris Elliott, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Chris Elliott may just be bitter that he didn't know the main ingredient of bread. While on the 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS), he started talking about 'The Tonight Show's "Jaywalking" segments.

He was ambushed by "Herman Munster with a neckjob," as he described Jay Leno, who shoved a microphone in his face. "How am I supposed to know that flour is the main ingredient in bread?" he asked Letterman.

"I'll tell you right now, that show is for morons," Elliott said of 'The Tonight Show.' "It is not like your show ... This is really for the intellectual elites here."

Letterman laughed and mostly kept his mouth shut, though you know he probably had a million different responses running through his head. After all, the Leno and Letterman camps have been on opposite sides of the aisle for about two decades now.

At one point, after Elliott said the segment made a total "a******" out of him, Letterman quipped, "Well, that's not much of a drive, is it?"

Elliott played as if he had no sense of humor about the situation. "I would expect that kind of thing from him," he said. "Not from you." Apparently, Elliott holds David Letterman and 'Late Show' to a higher standard than Leno and 'The Tonight Show.'

Letterman apologized for his crack. "I guess you have his back now, huh?" Elliott asked. Somehow, we kind of doubt it.

With a face only a mother could love, Chris Elliot only got ANY break in showbusiness because of his father. Making fun of Jay Leno and stating any of us who watch the Tonight Show, morons is crossing the line. And David, bucktooth Letterman (you'd think after all these years and with all his money he'd have those awful teeth fixed!!), just sits there and cackles his stupid laugh with every imature comment that comes out of his mouth. Continuously tacky.

The sad thing about all of this, is that a lot of American citizens form their political opinions from information they get from entertainers. People like Bill Mahr, Jon Stewart, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Chelsea Handler, Conan O'Brien, etc. are all comedians!!!! Also, like most Hollyweird "stars" they are far left. They don't have all their facts straight, and they spout-off with their misguided views and opinions. Most of these idiots live in California - a state that is going bankrupt. There is a culture war going on with the secular-progressives, the politically correct, tea party, left wing, right wing...and most people aren't even aware of it! We as a once great nation are heading for real trouble!!!!

California is indeed in financial trouble, but here's a Bulletin for you Gregg - California has the largest economy in the USA...7th largest in the entire world. Basically we add a lot more to the national pot than Florida, or any other state for that matter. And you are also wrong about most of the people you mentioned - they are not far left, if anything they are just left of center. They use common sense, and usually have their facts correct, unlike yourself. I will put Jon Stewart and Bill Mahr up against your Sarah Palin and Newt any day of the week.

Chris is the son of Bob Elliot (of legendary comedy team Bob and Ray). He starred in the sitcom GET A LIFE and was an SNL cast member when SNL was still worth watching. He's a brilliant comedic actor.

Speaking of morons. I can't believe how many of you actually didn't get Chris's joke about flour in bread.

He was making a JOKE. I think Jaywalking is the only thing funny on Leno.

Dave's the man.

I totally agree. I've never gotten how Leno could ever get higher ratings than Letterman. I'm sure poor Johnny Carson has been rolling over in his grave. Everyone knew that Dave was the heir apparent to Johnny and should have had the Tonight Show time slot upon his retirement. Leno is rarely funny and most of his humor is as juvenile as Conan O'Brian's. Definitely a show for morons. Long live Letterman!

Chris Elliott is not and has never been funny. I do not think Letterman is funny at all. His jokes and delivery are mediocre at best. Leno is much funnier, but is far behind the all time late night king --- Johnny Carson.

This idiot has been billed as a comedian for the past 30 years or so and should be sued for false advertising. He's nothing but a bafoon....and not a very good one at that. He's had his head up Letterman's ass so long he's lost any semblence of being anything but a shill for his former employer and reeks of envy for the limelight he'll never achieve. Funny and Chris Elliott should never be use in the same sentence. It would be a lie.
