Talking TV Podcast Takes on 'The Chicago Code' and 'Justified'

by Maureen Ryan, posted Feb 3rd 2011 1:45PM
There are only two shows discussed in this week's Talking TV With Ryan and Ryan podcast, but I think you'll agree they're worth talking about in depth.

In the first 28 minutes of the podcast, we talked about 'The Chicago Code,' a good, new Shawn Ryan drama that premieres 9PM ET Monday on Fox (look for my review and a feature about the show in the next day or so).

In the second half (about 26 minutes), Ryan McGee and I gabbed about 'Justified,' a very good show that has gotten even better in its second season, which begins 10PM ET Wednesday on FX.

As always, you can grab the podcast on iTunes, or you can listen to or grab the mp3 file from this site.

This week's podcast is also available here, as are full archives of every 'Talking TV' podcast. The 'Talking TV' archives are also now available on iTunes as well.

At the start of this week's recording, Ryan pointed out that the podcast began exactly a year ago. Back then, it had a different name and focused exclusively on 'Lost,' but it's wild to think that we've been doing the 'cast for exactly a year.

We're so grateful for every single listener. Thanks much for checking out the podcast, if you have, and we hope to continue to make it worth your time. Always feel free to give us a shout via email or Twitter (here and here) if there are particular topics or shows you'd like to hear us talk about. I loved Chicago Code and Jennifer Beal , do you know why it was discontinued?

Mo: I haven't see 'Justified' yet, and am really trying to avoid spoilers, but here's a question you might want to answer in a non-spoily way. I'm a HUGE fan of Elmore Leonard -- but his deliciously quirky storytelling and language is very hard to translate into film/TV. Will I love Justified because it gets Leonard right, or just because it works on its own terms? (If that makes any sense at all.)
