Clay Aiken May Be Latest 'American Idol' to Get Dropped From Record Label
According to Perez Hilton, Clay Aiken might just be the latest member of an elite club of 'American Idol' winners and finalists to get dropped from their record label. After the lackluster sales of his fifth album, "Tried and True," Aiken's label, Decca, has decided to end its relationship with the Season 2 runner-up, an insider told Hilton.
Aiken's personal life seems to have received more attention in recent years than his music. In particular, his decision to father the child of David Foster's sister, Jaymes Foster, drew much attention from the media, along with Aiken's coming out as gay.
Aiken's musical career is most likely far from over, but if Decca has indeed dropped the North Carolina native, he'll join the man who bested him in Season 2, Ruben Studdard, and Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, in the search for a record deal.
