'Bones' Season 6, Episode 12 Recap

by Rich Keller, posted Feb 4th 2011 7:00AM
Three sisters married to the same man are suspects in his murder on this week's installment of 'Bones.'['Bones' - 'The Sin in the Sisterhood']

After the tense events of last week's 'Bones,' Booth and the Squints got back to some good ol' investigatin' as they tried to find out who murdered a polygamist who ended up marrying three sisters. In other words, it was business as usual for the gang.

But before we get to that we need to speak for a moment about a romantic relationship that doesn't involve Booth, Bones, Hannah, Hodgins, Angela, Daisy or Sweets.

By process of elimination, that only leaves Cam as the subject of discussion. And, yes, she does have a romantic life!

If you recall from last season, Cam ended up visiting one Paul Linder when her adoptive daughter wanted to start using birth control pills. One thing led to another and eventually a romantic relationship began. However, with everyone taking a sabbatical at the end of last season and the whole Gravedigger situation, Paul and Cam just couldn't get it together. Finally it all came to a head this episode as Cam was stood up one too many times by a very busy Dr. Linder.

Cam being Cam -- a professed workaholic -- you would think she wouldn't be phased by this. But she was because, for the first time in a long time, she had feelings for someone. As luck would have it, she had two romantic souls to talk to in order to figure out what to do. On the one side, Booth suggested that Cam give the good doctor a few more chances (nine, to be exact) to get everything right. On the other side, Angela told Cam not to do anything and let Paul make the next move. And if he didn't move at all, then it was time to end the relationship and move on.

In the end, Cam took advice from both love experts. She let Paul stew while she shot a gun into a tub of water, which eventually led the doctor to come to the Jeffersonian and profess his intense like for her. Then she decided to put her love life in front of her work life and give Paul a chance to redeem himself at dinner.

Will this relationship work? I certainly hope so! Out of all of the characters on 'Bones' Cam has been the one with the shakiest, aka nonexistent, romantic life. Now that Hodgins and Angela are settled and Seeley is headed for a committed relationship with one person or another, it's time for Cam to get hooked up. The only thing we ask is to see more of her significant other.

In other romantic news, there may have been some potential foreshadowing in statements Booth made to Bones at the end of the episode. After nabbing the murder suspect du jour, the two got into a conversation about love and how one person could love more than one woman; as was the case with the murder victim. Seeley believed that though the victim was married to three women at one time, he only loved one because, in the end, there is only one true love. When Temperance asked what would happen if that one true love was lost, Booth responded that the two would eventually connect once again.

Considering next week's promos show Seeley holding some type of engagement ring, one has to wonder if he is having doubts about his love towards Hannah. We saw a bit of this last week when Booth was shown looking somewhat longingly at Bones and after she said goodbye to her dad. This week, we saw more of that look between the two, which makes us wonder if he's going to change his mind about his relationship next week.

Some other notes about this week's episode:

-- After the darkness of last week's installment, this week's episode was much lighter in tone all around. Particularly funny were Wendell's reaction to Brennan's example of motions, a.k.a bumping and grinding, that the victim displayed in his pelvic region. Another highlight was the giggle session between Booth and Bones while they called the victim various derogatory names.

-- The most interesting part of this week's mystery was how the relationship of the sister wives started to deteriorate after they found out each other's dirty secrets. Hidden divorce, radium salt, rifling through another wife's garbage...If they didn't kill him it would have made for a good show; perhaps on HBO starring Bill Paxton.

-- Other than the sisters themselves, the mystery was pretty standard. Their dad was the suspect as soon as he talked to Booth. Why? Because he was the most mild-mannered of all of them. When we heard that Ed (the victim) was cheating on all the wives it solidified the choice.

-- Sweets once again takes over two interrogations. After watching this for several episodes, an opinion has emerged about what types of suspects he talks to. Normally they're the young, ditsy type or the crazy, redneck type. Seeley is left to talk up all the serious suspects.

-- It may be time for the producers to settle on one Squintern to help the rest of the team. That vote should go to Wendell who is probably the most settled of all of them. If someone wants to start the Internet campaign please go ahead.

-- Best line of the episode: Hodgins admitting to Angela what he could marry multiple women as long as they were duplicates of her. You could hear millions of men scribbling that line down on an available scrap of paper for future use.

-- Toyota is the embedded sponsor on 'Bones.' We get it. Let's move on.

Next week: Sweets and Seeley get serious about their relationships.

Only thing I hated about Bones is it forced me to miss a new CSI.

Well, if that's the worst thing about 'Bones' that's okay.
