Super Bowl, 'Glee' Score Record Ratings
UPDATE: Not only is Super Bowl XLV the most watched game ever, but it is the most-watched program in TV history.More than 111 million viewers tuned in to see the Green Bay Packers go up against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the overnight ratings clocked in at a whopping 47.9, tying the 1987 Super Bowl. The overnights are 3 percent higher than 2010's game, which brought in a total of 106.5 million viewers.
On the other hand, despite scoring its highest-rated episode yet, 'Glee's' ratings were 31 percent lower than last year's post–Super Bowl show, the premiere of CBS's 'Undercover Boss.' According to Entertainment Weekly, 26.8 million viewers tuned in for the highly anticipated episode, earning an 11.1 rating among adults age 18–49.
It's not bad news, though, seeing as EW reports 'The Sue Sylvester Shuffle' was the top-rated scripted telecast of any TV show in the past three years, overtaking the post-2009 Super Bowl episode of 'The Office.'
