Martin Lawrence on Teen Daughters: 'Is It Cool to Follow Them When They Start Dating?' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 8th 2011 3:15AM
Martin Lawrence, 'Late Show with David Letterman'If Martin Lawrence's fifteen-year old daughter watched his appearance on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), you can bet she's going to be wary about telling her dad about any upcoming dates. Lawrence lamented that his eldest daughter is starting to notice the boys.

But Lawrence had an idea that probably most fathers of teenage girls have considered at one time or another. "Is it cool to follow them when they start dating?" he asked.

Sure, there was laughter back and forth between him and David Letterman, but you could see in his eyes that it was something he'd thought seriously about. Otherwise, your baby girl is out there with some strange man and who knows what's happening.

"I can't sit in the car and just watch from a distance?" he asked. There's another thing for his daughter to worry about now.

But then Letterman made it even worse for the young girl. "You could hire a guy," he suggested. "I think if you hire a guy, it's fine."

Now she's sure to be good and paranoid on any date that everyone around her may be on her dad's payroll and reporting back to him everything she's doing.

You know, it's actually not a bad idea now that we think about it. At least to plant that seed of doubt and suspicion in their heads. Their fear and paranoia is their parents' peace of mind.
