Letterman Asks Adam Sandler, 'What Is Wrong With You?' After a Lewd Joke (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 9th 2011 4:47AM
Adam Sandler, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Adam Sandler took a perfectly nice conversation about visiting his mother in Florida on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), and turned it into something crude and disgusting. It's not a surprise to fans of his particular brand of "immature" humor, but it seemed to catch David Letterman off guard.

Or at least Letterman was left with only one repeated response.

Letterman made a fairly benign statement regarding Sandler's mother's friends. "They all know what you do, right?"

Sandler responded with a joke that spiralled into a pretty odd place rather quickly. "My mother still thinks I'm a doctor," he quipped. "I never really told her. So every Thanksgiving her friends will come over and I'll give them pelvic exams."

Now why was it necessary to in three sentences get to examining senior citizen pelvises, and his mother's friends in particular?

Letterman summed it up succinctly. "What is wrong with you?"

Oh he laughed, in spite of himself, because it's that kind of shock humor. But the question is still very legitimate. Sandler was clearly displaying a pretty twisted sense of humor. A sense of humor that's made him millions of dollars and can still catch you off guard from time to time.

I agree 100% with spd9190. You clearly don't understand comedy. Racist jokes may be considered "over the top", but a silly joke about pretending to be a doctor is not. Try and find something a little bit worse to complain about, you're just making yourself seem like somebody who hates Adam Sandler and is trying to find whatever they can to make him look bad.

I don't understand why this clip is even worth arguing about or even mentioning. All this is is a clip of one comedian telling a joke to another. I would hardly call Sandler's joke lewd or even innapropriate, especially on Letterman's show which is a source of adult humor in itself. If people are so uptight and sheltered that they think this joke is "lewd" then they must have pretty boring lives. Here's a better example of a joke that could be considered lewd by some, but would probably still be considered tame by most who can hear curse words on t.v without being offended or feeling the need to complain about it on the internet.

At least there was something to laugh about. Http://www.bestbankruptcysite.info I've been out of a job for over a year and have not had much to laugh about - so a chuckle once in a while is good.

It's a JOKE people! What is wrong with you? If all you are going to do is set in front of the TV and look for something to criticize you need a life! This is one of the dumbest articles I've read! If you don't like a particular entertainer, don't watch them! I can't stand Woody Allen, so I don't watch anything he's in! Simple! Go watch the Disney Channel if jokes like that offend you, but I guess you can't watch that either since Miley Cyrus has posed for a few revealing pictures. So, unplug your TVs and go back under your rocks! The normal people of the world are tired of listening and reading all your crying and whining!

NOW T H E R E IS A PAIR!! Sandler and Letterman. One is a senior basher and the other just a plain basher-smasher-woman chovvie. Letterman needs to gie up the ship--get a senior life in some home with Andy Rooney of 60 minutes and Bill O'reily. Bill O and Dave make a great pair also----one ( mr."O") makes lewd phone calls to young girls at his vendors office asking sex options and Dave dosen't use the phone---he just tells his staffers "put out---or, YOU'RE OUT!!!" bOTH NERDS ARE BEYOND THEIR LIMITS when it comes to entertainment.

To those who think it is about a pelvic exam, it is not. It is about dishonor and disrespect of one's mother.

Remember, your tax dollars are being used to keep the banks afloat, which are lending money to miscreants to enrich themselves at your expense. Without your hard-earned tax dollars, these bad men would not be rich. Meanwhile, your elected and appointed officials are an integral component of propagating these schemes, where men become rich at your expense. That's what happens when everything is deregulated -- "NO BIG GOVERNMENT" enables these banks to be involved in these Ponzi Schemes, using your tax dollars to perpetuate these Ponzi or Pyramid schemes. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/09/sports/baseball/09mets.html?_r=1&ref=bernardlmadoff

Much ado about nothing. I have the same sense of humor so I can appreciate the response from the politically correct, "What kind of message does that send," group of thin skinned hypocrits that we live with.
