'Charlie's Angels' Reboot Casts Ramon Rodriguez as Bosley

by Catherine Lawson, posted Feb 11th 2011 8:52AM

Ramon RodriguezThe last piece of major 'Charlie's Angels' casting has fallen into place with the news that 'The Wire' alum, Ramón Rodríguez, has been cast as Bosley.

According to TVLine.com, Rodríguez's verison of Bosley will be "a charming and funny guy with 'GQ' looks and Peter Pan smile who has great hacking skills and technical knowledge." So, just like David Doyle's character in the original, then?

Rodriguez joins previously cast Minka Kelly ('Friday Night Lights'), Rachael Taylor ('Transformers') and Annie Ilonzeh ('General Hospital') in the new series.

And, if reports are true, he'll be taking orders from Robert Wagner, who's said to be in talks to play the eponymous Charlie.

Rodríguez's previous TV credits include recurring roles on 'The Wire' and 'Rescue Me.' He's also appeared in movies such as 'The Taking of Pelham 123' and 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.'

The new 'Charlie's Angels' is said to be much darker and way less campy than either the original show or the McG movie franchise. Unlike the 'Dallas' reboot that's also currently underway, the 'Angels' writers have ruled out having the original cast members involved.

However, Rodríguez's Bosley will apparently continue the 'Angels' tradition of being the rock that the Angels lean on for support as well as being the subject of many good-natured jokes. There's been no confirmation yet as to whether "Charlie" will continue to be just a voice in a box on Bosley's desk.

Production on the pilot episode is slated to begin in March, and ABC execs will decide on its fate by mid-Spring. If it's a "go," then you can expect it to hit TV screens in the fall.

I'm looking forward to this and I'm glad they are going for a new take and not just the jiggle tv comedy the original series was. I just hope they give the three leads major stunt, martial arts andgun training so the fight scenes look real and not like girl on girl cheese. Drew Barrymoore did a great job with the remake movies. But, I bet one of the Angel ends up hooking up with Bosley since he's so young and yummy.

Bosley is supposed to be a much older mentor to the Angels. Casting this guy as Bosley in the redux is just another reason why the new C.A. show will fail after a couple of seasons.

It's like L&O LA, it absolutely sucks. I have never seen more cops rolling joints in my life. Now Law & Order UK thats a different thing, it is great. They need to move it from BBC America to a US network. Friday nights at 9 pm BBC America a real L&O series.

Nope Lame, Bosley is to older and wiser. Already messing up the shows theme and it hasn't aired yet. Won't make it, no tinnie bopper Angels for me. Will be cancelled by week 4.

These aren't 'reboots', they're pathetic attempts to make money without bothering to come up with original ideas.
Rebooting would imply that they're even bothering to write a script. They'll dust off an old script, put a new spin on it and a lot of special effects. Hollywood is as pathetic as the music industry. Nothing is new anymore.

Combat ! a great television show from 1962-1967. Remake Combat but keep it in World War II.
