Billy Ray Cyrus: 'Hannah Montana' Caused Family Problems

billy ray cyrus regrets hannah montanaBilly Ray Cyrus blames the Disney show 'Hannah Montana' for the problems his family has been experiencing, including his divorce from wife Tish.

Cyrus told GQ magazine that he harbors regrets about the show that made his daughter, Miley Cyrus, famous.

"I hate to say it, but yes, I do. I'd take it back in a second," he said of the show, which shot Miley to stardom.

Cyrus also said he worries about the people surrounding his daughter and helping her make career decisions.

"I'm scared for her," he said. "She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm."

He claimed that he has been made the "fall guy" for whenever negative news surrounded his family -- like Miley's Vanity Fair cover shoot controversy, in which the 18-year-old star was photographed with just a sheet covering her, or a video that showed the teen smoking salvia from a bong.

"Every time the train went off the track ... her handlers, every time they'd put [the blame on] me," he told GQ. "I took it because I'm her daddy ... OK, nail me to the cross."

Cyrus tweeted about the bong incident shortly after the video hit the Web.

"Sorry guys. I had no idea," he wrote. "Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I'm so sad. There is much beyond my control right now."

When Cyrus approached his daughter's handlers about the incident, he was told it was "none of his business."

The singer has reportedly been estranged from Miley since the incident, describing their communication as "good enough to know it could be a lot better."

No Billy Ray, YOU are the reason your family is falling apart. YOU allowed your daughter to be Hannah Montana. YOU allowed her to pose for provocative pictures and then had the balls to blame Annie Leibovitz for the flack that you received from Disney over them. So Billy Ray is just now starting to figure out that allowing his teenage daughter to be a huge tv star ranks right up there in the annals of bad ideas with the Maginot Line, New Coke, and rebooting Buffy the Vampire Slayer without Joss Whedon. Really though, when has that ever turned out well? I guess that's a testament to the power of greed.
