James Murphy, of LCD Soundsystem, Explains to Stephen Colbert Why He's Calling it Quits (VIDEO)

James Murphy and his band LCD Soundsystem will play their farewell concert in early April. On Monday, they stopped by 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) for their last televised performance.LCD Soundsystem is a critically acclaimed commercially successful band, and Colbert wanted to know why Murphy was walking away from all that.
"It seems like the right thing to do," Murphy explained. "I'm 41, at a certain point I think it gets embarrassing." (Don't tell that to the Rolling Stones.)
Colbert rejected Murphy's explanation, even when Murphy added that he has a record label, so he would still be involved with music.
"I don't think rockers get to walk away like that," Colbert argued. "There's only three ways to end your career as a rocker: Overdose, overstay your welcome, or write Spiderman the Musical." (Hear that, Bono?)
Poor Spidey, a couple actors fall down and suddenly you've become a universal punchline.
