Jeff Probst Tries to Convince Regis to Stay on Show (VIDEO)

Jeff Probst Tries to Convince Regis to Stay on ShowWhile promoting 'Survivor: Redemption Island,' Jeff Probst not-so-subtly segues into an argument that Regis Philbin should continue as co-host of 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated). But Philbin questions his motives.

Probst asks the audience if they'd like Philbin to stay on the show, and he's met with wild applause. "People put their house on the market all the time and change their mind. Michael J. Fox told me one time it's not over until they tell you it's over," said Probst, pointing to the audience. "They clearly don't want you to leave."

But Philbin seems suspicious of Probst, who's been rumored as a possible replacement for him. "Who are you kidding, Probst? I know every move you make! You couldn't care less!" he shouted.

Several months before Regis annouced his retirement, I somehow thought he might be considering it. I almost wrote into the show that while he is of age to certainly retire, and sometimes he forgets things or whatever he may mess up on, that's what makes him Regis! He's a delight no matter what. Johnny Carson was funnier most times when he messed up a joke than if he had gotten it right the first time.
Here's a suggestion. I know it would be difficult to find co-hosts to stay on for one full week at a time but if you could, that would give you some continuity for a week and Regis could take more time off to do some different things he wants to try or just rest once in a while.
I know you always want to go out/leave a job when you're on top, but it's really not time for him to retire!!
We love you, Regis! Barbar Griffin Hunter, Ocala, FL
