Adrianne Palicki, 'Friday Night Lights' Alum, Is Our New 'Wonder Woman'

NBC released a wonderful bit of casting news today: 'Friday Night Lights' alum Adrianne Palicki is set to play the title role (and two alter-egos) in David E. Kelley's buzzed about 'Wonder Woman' reboot.

Kelley reportedly has a lot of work to do on the script, but Wonder Woman will have to do some serious heavy lifting of her own. Not only will Palicki play the star-spangled crimefighter, who's now based in L.A., but she'll also play her alter-ego, billionaire CEO Diana Themyscira and Diana's mousy assistant Diana Prince.

From capes to a power suit to no makeup and plain clothes? That's a stretch for an actress throughout their career -- this is all in the same one-hour drama.

Palicki showed off her small-screen chops as Tyra on NBC's critically-acclaimed drama 'Friday Night Lights' and, most recently, was a lead on Fox's ill-fated 'Lone Star.' And despite all of the casting rumors and dream lists circulating online lately, Deadline Hollywood reports Palicki "was the only actress invited to test for it."

Palicki's casting is the first for the series. Other roles to be cast include:
*Steve Trevor, Diana Themyscira's ex-lover-turned-high-powered lawyer
*Mindy, Diana's BFF and the press secretary for her mega-corporation
*A 'Wonder Woman' nemesis! Here, in the form of a mad scientist

Writer/producer David E. Kelley -- best known for creating shows like 'Ally McBeal,' 'The Practice' and 'Boston Legal' -- is also currently helming NBC's quirky new legal drama 'Harry's Law.' Jeffrey Reiner, who was co-executive producer and director on Palicki's 'FNL,' will direct the pilot.

I don't understand the "alter ego" part of the plot. She has 3 personalities and they expect WW fans to be impressed? Someone needs to rally the troops and get a petition going to get this plot on track for something more realistic. I for one won't be giving any support even if it is in HD that I can watch on my DISH Network HD employee serivce at home. My HD DVR will not go anywhere near such incredulous trash like that. The original WW is not exactly the embodiment of a perfect superhero series but at least it was grounded in reality for the character.

The lead actress is pretty not seen her acting but that may be a good thing. David E. Kelley is not a good choice to do WW. The people that directed and created XENA warrior princess would have been better, or the creator of the tv version of BUFFY THE SLAYER,those two would have been a better choice of directors and re- visioning of WW. David E.Kelly will turn this into a COMEDY,The script already sounds ridiculous,I'm a long time fan and collector of WW stuff and know most of the history of WW so I hope this will not be a disappointment. Smallvile is a good show if they can keep up with that show it may last but I'm doubt that David E.Kelley's vision of WW will last past one season.

what i dont understand is why is she gonna be 3 seperate people 2 i get every super hero has an alter ego but an assistant to an alter ego is just kinda dumb

this b!tch is too plain jane, look at her, she doesnt have the regal look of lynda!! wonder woman was beautiful, to put this plain jane in lynda place is damaging to my thought process and the lusty remembrance i had of the iconic wonder woman. get a real beautiful girl, or dont shoot the movie. anything less will be damages that cant be repair.

Whatever happened to the beautiful Jennifer Love Hewitt? She wants the part as seen on the Ellen Degeneres show. Plus, she is well known and has a nice body.
