Letterman Apologizes for Lindsay Lohan Top 10 Mixup (VIDEO)
If you read the news a couple of days ago, you may have tuned into the 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) to see Lindsay Lohan read the Top 10 last night. Since it's Lindsay, the Internet had a lot of fun talking about it, speculating on the topic of a Lohan-read Top 10, wondering what she might wear and what this means for her career (nothing, really).Unfortuanately, things didn't work out and Lohan didn't appear. It's still great for the Internet, though, because they then got a second batch of stories about how Lohan wasn't going to be on 'Late Show.' Think of it as a two-for-one special, much like the stories about how Michael Rosenbaum wasn't and then was going to appear in the series finale of 'Smallville.'
But her absence left David Letterman with some explaining to do. According to him, he got a phone call from a guy who said Lohan loved his joke about her during his Grammys Top 10 and wanted to be on the show. But apparently, it wasn't anyone who actually had any say in what she did or didn't do.
"It turns out we were duped," Letterman said. "And I have no one to blame but myself, and boy is my face red." He's talking about the fact that he immediately put together a press release announcing her appearance. Letterman apologized to his audience about the fiasco, and even to Lohan and her family.
It looks like Lohan is pretty good at making it into the news even when she doesn't do anything at all. We do hope, though, that she sees this as an opportunity to get onto Letterman and maybe do a "Top 10 Reasons Lindsay Lohan Couldnt (or Shouldn't) Do the Top 10."
See, there we go speculating about it again, even after it didn't happen.
