Blake Griffin is having an amazing rookie season in the NBA. After losing last year to an injury, he's come out and is setting rookie records that have stood for more than a decade and was named to the NBA All-Star Game as a Western Conference reserve. But that's not what Jimmy Kimmel wanted to talk about on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC).
His focus was on the fact that Griffin plays for the beleagured Los Angeles Clippers.
"Would you rather be on the Lakers?" he asked him. Griffin was clearly nervous and uncomfortable at the constant badgering, so went for the safe route of staying mostly quiet.
Kimmel then showed an actual advertisement from 'The Los Angeles Times' for Clippers tickets, with the slogan: Griffin & Gordon will be with the Clippers for their careers.
"Is that for real?" Griffin said. He looked like he was worried that they could force him to stay on the team forever.
"I think that answers that question," Kimmel said.
Kimmel's first guest Jason Sudeikis offered a possible explanation for the ad. "That might be based on the Mayan's prediction of the end of the world in 2012," he said.
How much do you want to bet Griffin hooked up with his agent right after that interview to see what that ad meant, and perhaps to look over his contract again?
