Jon Stewart Calls Out Media For Comparing Protests in Middle East to Those in Wisconsin (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Feb 21st 2011 11:59PM
On 'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart' (weekdays, 11PM ET Comedy Central), Jon Stewart played a few clips of pundits and politicians comparing the protests that have taken root all over the Middle East to the protests in Wisconsin over a proposal that would eliminate collective bargaining for most public sector unions.

Then Stewart had a blunt message for those who have been equating the two:

"They're not the same in any f-----g way shape or form. At all. At all. Not at all," Stewart made himself clear.

Later, Stewart pointed out that 400 protesters had died in Egypt (and many more are currently dying in Libya,) whereas the biggest risk the protesters in Wisconsin face is "being caught in a drum circle."

I love Stewart, but this time he is wrong. Hopefully no one will die during these protests, but it's not unheard of in this country. But, the point is on a basic level people in all these countries are fighting for their rights. I'm sure yesterday he wouldn't have believed internet sites would be blocked in Madison.
