Congressman David Wu Addresses Mental Health, Apologizes for Tiger Suit Photo (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Feb 22nd 2011 2:30PM
In the run-up to last November's election, Oregon Congressman David Wu started to behave erratically. Although Wu was elected to a seventh term, some of his staff was so bothered by his actions that they quit, and others staged an intervention focused on his mental health.

As Wu told George Stephanopolous on Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) he took the intervention to heart, and is now in counseling and taking medication for his mental health issues.

He also addressed an incident in which he sent his staff a wacky picture of himself in a tiger costume.

"A take home lesson from this is that while they were very, very unprofessional you shouldn't ever send photographs of yourself in a Halloween costume ... It's just not professional, even when you're joshing around with your kids a couple nights before Halloween. I did send those photographs. It was unprofessional, inappropriate."

While it's good Wu is getting the help he needs, we're a little bit worried he's scapegoating ridiculous Halloween costumes.
