TBS Cancels 'Glory Daze'

It appears the nostalgia factor wasn't enough for TBS's hourlong comedy 'Glory Daze' -- the show has been cancelled after one season.'Glory Daze,' from Walt Becker and Michael LeSier, followed the exploits of a group of frat brothers attending an Indiana college in 1986. According to Deadline, despite a low median viewer age and consistent DVR ratings boosts, the so-so ratings weren't enough to bring the show back for a second season.
The mostly negative reviews probably didn't help either. As TV Squad lead critic Maureen Ryan said of the premiere episode, "It'd be one thing if the show employed thinly drawn, clichéd characters in service of solid comedy, but very little of 'Glory Daze' is actually funny. If we're supposed to find the college tribulations of nice guy Joel (Kelly Blatz) dramatically compelling, well, Joel and his three friends (the jock, the would-be ladies man and the preppy guy) are so bland that I couldn't remember any of their names five minutes after watching the pilot. Actually, I'm not sure if I could remember the characters' names during the pilot."
While 'Glory Daze' premiered to 1.8 million viewers, the number fell to 1.1 million by last month's season finale, Deadline reports. Though its first hour-long comedy failed, TBS is continuing to develop two new ones -- 'Hound Dogs' and 'The Wedding Band.'
Star Chris D'Elia already booked a role in NBC's untitled Whitney Cummings comedy pilot.
