'Glee': Hear Gwyneth Paltrow's 'Landslide' Cover

'Glee': Hear Gwyneth Paltrow Cover 'Landslide'In this week's installment of Gwyneth Paltrow Can Sing, the 'Country Strong' actress performs Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide.'

Paltrow returns to 'Glee' in the next new episode, scheduled to air March 8, and promises to sex things up -- she's playing the sexual education teacher!

Besides this Fleetwood Mac classic, Paltrow will sing Prince's 'Kiss' in the episode, titled 'Sexy.' Let's hope there aren't any Mary Todd Lincoln costumes involved this time, because that would be kind of weird.

Listen to the song after the jump. And, for reference, Fleetwood Mac's original and the Dixie Chicks' and Smashing Pumpkins' cover versions are also included below.

Gwyneth can't sing. Period. But then, neither can that little Taylor girl. So I guess you just need lots of hair to sell records these days. Ah,for the days of Patti Smith. I do miss them so.

I agree with Bruce. Paltrow can generally carry a tune but she's not a singing artist. This song requires that the singer puts some of her soul into it, the pain and joy of some of the lessons learned in life. I don't hear any of that in Paltrow's version. It sounds like something from a karoke machine. Now the Dixie Chick's version is pretty good and the instruments are fabulous. Again, though, I don't sense some of the hard knocks of life in the singer's voice in that version. In the original , Stevie pours out her heart into the song and the simplicity of the two accoustic guitars accompanying her makes the power of her voice stand out even more so in the song. Don't get me wrong; I love the Dixie Chick's version of the song, but the best, as is often the case, is the original.

Paltrow is a singer by osmosis. She better stick to a B class actress, because music is not her futureQ

Alright, that's enough. Yeah, she can generally carry a tune, but she's no artist. Ya don't have to listen to any of the pro covers here (or more than the first line of GP's rendition) to tell this. "Landslide" is a fine composition, but Stevie Nicks made it a landmark in pop music. Anybody who can carry a tune can sing it, but it takes an artist like Nicks to bring it alive. This is why GP's effort is so revealing.

P.S. Even the Dixie Chicks cover, while laden with great musicians and singers, was almost lackluster compared to the Stevie Nicks - Fleetwood Mac original.

good grief enough already. She wouldn't even get through to Hollywood week on AI. Go back to acting, which she's not great at either but better than her singing.
