In the acting categories, 'The Fighter' started off strong at 'The 83rd Annual Academy Awards' (Sun., 8:30PM on ABC). After Melissa Leo took home an Oscar for Supporting Actress, and dropped the f-bomb all over the stage -- we think it's because she was smitten by Kirk Douglas -- the Supporting Actor Oscar went to her co-star, Christian Bale. While he did open his speech with the expression, "Bloody hell!" he promised to keep it at least cleaner than his co-star did. "I'm not going to drop the f-bomb like she did," he said of Leo. "I've done that plenty before."
Later in the speech, he got emotional and cut off after saying, "My wife ... " Or, perhaps he forgot her name in the moment. When he went back to it, he never said his wife's or his daughter's name, though he did thank and give them much credit for his success.
Still, if he did lose her name in the moment, we supposed it could be worse. He could have cussed about it.
