Best Picture Oscar for 'The King's Speech,' 'The 83rd Annual Academy Awards'In the late season rush toward 'The 83rd Annual Academy Awards' (Sun., 8:30PM on ABC), a shift began to form in the front runners among the top films of the year. Earlier on, it seemed likely that 'The Social Network' was going to be the Oscar darling of the year. But as 2010 wrapped and we started moving into 2011, a tidal shift started moving toward 'The King's Speech.'

After picking up Oscars for Best Screenplay, Director and Lead Actor earlier in the night, it seemed almost inevitable that it would take the top prize as well. And it did just that, beating out its nine other competitors, including 'The Social Network.'

"To have been part of a film that has touched and moved people so much all over the world has been just a huge privilege," producer Emile Sherman said of the film. He also gave tremendous kudos to the financial backers who took a risk on such an unlikely success story.
