'The Real Housewives of Miami' Season 1, Episode 2 Recap
['The Real Housewives of Miami' - 'Black Ball'd']This series remains pretty lacking in the drama department. Although it's looking like C-SPAN compared to the other East Coast 'Housewives' in Atlanta and Jersey, let's give it a bit more time to gain traction.
There's still a lot of cocktail-drinking, lounging and gabbing going on, but it was nice to finally see some of the Miami ladies at work.
Lea ran around all flustered proving she's the charity event organizer supremo and Alexia staked her claim as a no-nonsense, unyielding executive editor. In the premiere she seemed more like some showpiece, generating the idea that her husband handled the business.
And slowly, the alliances are taking shape. Alexia parsed out her "two worlds" view of the privileged life with Adriana, her peer in the "Who Would Pick My Son Up From School?" group, putting Larsa and Cristy -- who supposedly adhere to the "Hire a Nanny" school of thought -- in another.
It's not a stretch to say that even by the second episode, Cristy and Lea are not, and probably will never be for the duration of the season, on the same team.
Marysol, the outlier in not being a mom, is someone we've already seen at work. She still remains a draw because of her mother. By the way, did anyone notice how Larsa's mom put up some competition for Marysol's mom for the episode's they-don't-make-them-like-that-anymore mom role?
Let's wait to see what the self-dubbed queen of properly cooked rice has in store in the culinary department when it's her turn to host the 'wives. Now that Larsa has talked a lot, she needs to wow. Or does that mean she'll just hire a caterer?
Thoughts on Adriana's fiancé? It was très classy the way he stared at her chest as she talked about how important it is to treat her female friends like sisters. Just about as classy as when Joe Francis of 'Girls Gone Wild' fame showed up at Lea's event. Who bid on that trip?
Lea really worked the room, even if the episode made it seem like she was super concerned about Cristy hanging out with friends in tow without having gone through the proper channels to make a payment for the charity.
Cristy's defense was that she wasn't supposed to be there in the first place and came late because of a flat tire. In any case, she didn't seem too bothered about not paying for a ticket, or not offering up the money on the spot. Was Lea's promise to send an invoice overkill? Do these two have some history of conflict we don't know about?
'The Real Housewives of Miami' airs Tuesdays, 10PM ET on Bravo.
