Russell Struggles to Fortify His Alliance on 'Survivor: Redemption Island' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 3rd 2011 5:12AM
Julie Wolfe & Russell Hantz, 'Survivor: Redemption Island'Russell Hantz came into this season of 'Survivor: Redemption Island' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS) promising to play a kinder and gentler game. The sock-burning and sabatoging his own tribe would be gone. That much he's been true to ... sort of. He's used the "with me or against me" line and he has established his alliance with young girls, but can he get away with it a third time?

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

Russell's goal was to keep his tribe strong and dominant in the challenges into the merge, and there was an indication he was wavering on that plan. But the rest of his tribe had other thoughts. So they threw the challenge and concocted a plan to eliminate Russell -- or his ally Stephanie if he happened to have an Immunity Idol.

So Russell came up with a counter-plan, and lured Julie into his alliance to turn the tables and get rid of Ralph. They shook on it, but this time it was Julie who did the double-crossing. After a tied vote the first time, Russell was sent packing.

"I'll be back and be ready," he promised, referring to the new twist in the game that will afford him a chance to earn his way back from Redemption Island and into the game.

Do you think it was a smart move to get rid of Russell so early in the game?
