Chelsea Handler and Her Staff Tease Writer Jiffy on 'After Lately' (VIDEO)

Chelsea Handler, 'After Lately' premiereWe couldn't help but be reminded of Jimmy Fallon's '7th Floor West' when watching Chelsea Handler's latest expansion of her burgeoning media empire. 'After Lately' (Sun., 11PM ET on E!) is a new weekly mockumentary format comedy series that's built around the production of her 'Chelsea Lately' talk show.

But while Fallon's over-the-top melodrama made '7th Floor West' a delightfully guilty pleasure, we're not sure where to sit just yet with Handler's fake behind-the-scenes look at her show. There were certainly some funny moments in the premiere, highlighted by Handler herself, who seems to revel in treating her staff like garbage.

For one writer in particular, Jiffy, she's not the only one. After showing up late, he got ripped into for the shirt he was always wearing.

"My wife gave me this shirt," he replied lamely after a lengthy tirade against it.

After he tried to stand up for himself, saying they'd be sorry when he wasn't there anymore, Handler dug in again. "Do you have job interviews lined up? You're going to go on a job interview in that shirt today? Where are you headed, over to Hot Dog on a Stick?"

With sharp writing, 'After Lately' manages to be more funny than not, at least so far. Watching Handler abuser her staff may not be enough to sustain a series, so we'll have to wait and see what other storylines they come up with to add to the drama.

What gives her the right to treat anyone that way? I would thrown that food right back in her face. She is just plain cruel and obnoxious. Does she realy think she's funny? She is funny at others expense and that's certainly not funny. Get some help with your anger Chelsea before someone reacts in a way that you won't like. I've eatched her show once and that's enough cruelty for anyone.

Boy, oh boy....what a lot of cranky people! I think Chelsea Handler is hilarious. All her gags are tongue in cheek. Get over it, everyone. Can't you see it's all just gags, and that the other comedians were in on it, too? Go cry to your mommies.

Furthermore, I think Chelsea is the ultimate feminist...calling on her right to act any way she chooses...just like men do.

Brava, Chelsea....and much more success to you!

I am a woman and act any way I choose too, but man or woman, there is a difference between being funny and being obnoxious. Why choose to be a pathetic jerk, when she could be just funny? Oh wait, she doesn't know how to be funny.

I used to watch Chelsea Lately....but lately, she is a mean, self-centered bitch with an attitude, like so many progressive seculars in Hollyweird. She is mean spirited and I just don't see the humor anymore. Chuy thinks being stupid is funny. (Watch what happens when Chelsea asks Chuy to spell any basic word....he can't.) Stupid is NOT funny, it's pathetic. Her entire show has evolved into a mean-spirited ego-trip for Chelsea, and that will be it's doom. The ONLY show worth watching on E Network, is "Talk Soup". It shows us how ridiculous Hollyweird has become.

You are just mad because she is now occupying the traditional superior "male"role and the men are on the receiving end of the jokes and insults!
