The past few years have been filled with tragedy and personal struggle for Mike Tyson. On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), the former heavyweight boxing champ shares the story of how he bounced back from the accidental death of his four-year-old daughter and a battle with substance abuse.Tyson's daughter, Exodus, died in 2009 a day after being injured in a treadmill accident. And, according to Tyson, he was prepared to react with rage over his daughter's plight, but was humbled by the sight of other parents with sick and injured children.
"I'm anticipating to go to the hospital and raise hell. But, once I got there and I saw other people ... handling it with dignity, I didn't want to be the psycho parent up there. I wanted to handle it with dignity as well," he said.
Tyson has also admitted to heavy drug use, but claims to have been sober for the past two years, primarily because of the support of family and friends. "I'm just very fortunate that I had a great support system. I had great mentors," he said. "I'm no better than anyone else ... The only difference is I had a good support system."
