On 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), John Leguizamo recalls getting slapped by Sean Penn so many times while filming 'Casualties of War' that his face actually went numb. The actors were filming a scene for the 1989 war flick in which Penn was supposed to slap Leguizamo into submission. But, because Penn prefers the technique of method acting, Leguizamo said he didn't hold back.
"Sean, you know, he's a method actor. He doesn't believe in 'staged combat.' He really thinks he's in Vietnam in 1969. So, we've got to do this take, like, 13 times and he's slapping my face every single time," Leguizamo said, adding that director Brian De Palma was "kind of getting off on it."
