A Tearful Elimination from Redemption Arena on 'Survivor: Redemption Island' (VIDEO)

Russell Hantz's journey to his third straight finale hit a major speed bump on last week's 'Survivor: Redemption Island' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS). His own tribe was so determined to get rid of him that they threw the challenge to get him eliminated. Thanks to the 'Redemption' part of this new season, Hantz wasn't completely eliminated from the game, though. The producers anticipated this possibility, so they stacked the game to allow players a second chance to stay in the game.
So Russell went to 'Redemption Island' where he'd have to face-off against Matt in a challenge to stay in the competition. If he can stay alive through a series of challenges, he can return to the game. One loss, though, and he would be out for good.
Matt had already dispatched one opponent, and he ultimately outplayed Russell as well. And, just like that, for the first time ever, Russell Hantz had been eliminated from 'Survivor.'
Surprising everyone, the notorious villain broke down in tears over this. "It's just terrible when you play with people that didn't really come here to play the game," he said. "This is my last time playing this game. That's it."
We know a lot of people will be very glad to hear him say that, and hope he sticks to his word. But just as many people are big fans of Russell's aggressive gameplay, and we're sure they're sorry to see him go out like this.
