Aaron Eckhart's 'Marine Speak' Wasn't Up to Par During Training for 'Battle: Los Angeles' (VIDEO)
To prepare for playing a Marine staff sergeant in his new movie 'Battle: Los Angeles', Aaron Eckhart went through a three-week boot camp administered by actual Marines.As Eckhart told Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), he had one bad civilian habit that the real Marines had trouble breaking him of.
"'My biggest problem was I called a helicopter a 'chopper,' okay. That's a big no-no in Marine speak. So [the Sergeant Major] would be sitting there and I would go 'get on that chopper,' [and he would yell] 'Cut!' He would come over like this, shaking, and say 'helo, it's a helo'."
"So the Marines are allowed to just yell 'cut!'," Stewart interjected. "I always thought that the director ... "
"I embellished, John, I embellished for the sake of your audience," Eckhart admitted, showing signs of a man who has been hitting the talk shows hard as of late.
