Trey Parker and Matt Stone were on 'The Daily Show' (weekdays, 11 PM ET on Comedy Central) to promote their new Broadway musical 'The Book of Mormon,' which Jon Stewart has seen and described as "so good it makes me angry."Another group that could be potentially angered with the satirists' take on the history Mormonism would be the Mormons. But, according to the duo, that hasn't been the case.
"We can tell when Mormons are in the crowd." Parker explained. "Because we'll have references to like Abinadi, a prophet, and they'll go 'oh, Abinadi, they got him in there.'"
"I've met a couple Mormons that came to the show, and they've really liked it," Stone added. "I don't know if it's because someone is paying attention to them at all, and that's why they like it."
"The musical is kind of a celebration of Mormonism, Stone continued. "By some guys who aren't Mormon."
Of course, that shouldn't be much of a surprise since all the great Mormon musicals have been written by guys who aren't Mormon.
