'Melissa and Joey' Scoop: Details on Vivica A. Fox's Guest Role, Lawrence Brothers Reunion
When 'Melissa and Joey' returns from hiatus -- mark those calendars, it returns June 29! -- some mighty big names will be joining the cast, including the Lawrence brothers. It's now appropriate to let out a collective "Whoa!"That's not all: Vivica A. Fox along with some other familiar TV faces will stop by the hit sitcom. Series stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence hit the red carpet of ABC Family's Upfront presentation and they weren't shy about dishing details.
"We do have some really great guest stars. We're going to have have Vivica Fox," Hart told TV Squad. "And one of my favorite things that we do this season is that Joey's ex-wife comes back a few times. That's fun."
'Melissa & Joey' follows Hart's character Mel, a local politician, and Lawrence's Joe, an out of work commodities trader who becomes Mel's nanny.
Other notable guest stars include 'Greek' alumnus Scott Michael Foster, who plays Mel's much younger boyfriend, and John Ratzenberger, who appears as Mel's crazy neighbor.
Lawrence was eager to share details on what his younger brothers, Matthew and Andrew, will be doing on the show. "It's great," Lawrence said. "We haven't worked together in like a decade, so it's cool."
Matthew will mimic real life and guest as Joe's brother, but Andrew will play a teacher at the kids' school. A teacher Joe's character just so happens to hate.
"It's fun. Joe is a capitalist. He's a conservative. Very Michael J. Fox on 'Family Ties,'" Lawrence said. "And Andy's going to be this very liberal, new-age teacher. I help Ryder write this economic paper that is brilliant ... and [Andy] kibosh's it. So I go to school to talk about the grade."
And if that's not enough Lawrence brotherly love (ha!) for you, Lawrence said he and his younger brothers are collaborating with the producers of 'Wedding Crashers' on a top-secret endeavor. "It's the first time we will have all worked together in a decade," he said. "I can't talk about it yet, but it's awesome. It's something you'd never expect, and it's in a way you'd never expect."
