There are some interesting things about Niki Taylor's "volunteering" to be fired:
1. She knew that she was going to be fired anyway
2. Smartly or cowardly, she took away the opportunity for her to face up to, explain, and possibly learn from her team and Trump's specific criticisms of her mistakes and leadership skills
3. She did not have to face up to the fact that she overreacted to Dionne Warwick's (surprisingly for her) initially calm but understandable question about the whereabouts of their teammate and Niki ally, Hope Dworaczyk.
4.Niki didn't have to explain why she didn't assign her ally, Hope Dworaczyk who has been totally under the radar since the season began, any real task in the camping campaign other than as "positive" energy for Niki.

From the first shows, I thought that Niki was a creative and helpful team member. However, her last show demonstrated poor leadership skills for her in that role on that show. The nice /nasty way that she dealt with Dionne showed less than pretty side to Niki. In addition, Nikki's attempts to minmize Star's questions came back to bite her when her own lack of specificity with an overall view for the entire project caused her failure. Gary's team won despite him. Niki's team lost because of her. I'm just not feeling the total "honor" of her behavior, especially at the end.

So sorry to see that this crap makes AOL headlines.....hardly newsworthy!

She was not "fired for being honest". She was fired because of her mistakes, and her honesty, though admirable, did not make up for them. It was of course honorable for her to take responsibility, but it didn't make her mistakes go away. That's why being honest if hard. Sometimes it means you have to accept an undesirable consequence. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.
