Talking TV Podcast Takes on 'Mildred Pierce,' Netflix and More
The Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan podcast took a week off last week, but Ryan McGee and I are back with a new edition of our small-screen gabfest. There are three topics in this week's podcast: HBO's 'Mildred Pierce,' which stars Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood and debuts Sunday; Netflix's entry into the scripted-content arena with 'House of Cards'; and a couple of recent 'Chuck' and 'Supernatural' panels that were moderated by some mutant redheaded TV critic.
Running times for each part of the discussion are below.
0 - 19:46: A discussion of 'Mildred Pierce' (and f.y.i., I'll post a full review of the HBO miniseries in a day or two)
19:47 - 42:30: Netflix's deal to make the David Fincher-Kevin Spacey scripted drama 'House of Cards,' and what that means for the future of "television" (and we briefly ponder whether the new series is actually television at all). I also wrote about the Netflix development here.
42:31 - end: Mo's experiences moderating a 'Supernatural' panel at Paleyfest (there's more on that here, here, here and here [thanks, Mary and Laura!]) and a 'Chuck' panel at Chicago's C2E2 (there's more on that event here).
As always, you can subscribe to the Talking TV podcast on iTunes, or you can listen to or grab the mp3 file from this site.
This week's podcast is also available here, as are full archives of every 'Talking TV' podcast. The 'Talking TV' archives are also available on iTunes as well.
Thank you very much for listening!
