Reality TV Women: A Salute to Eight of the Best

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 23rd 2011 4:45PM
Bethenny Frankel, Kate GosselinThroughout the month of March, TV Squad has honored the trailblazing women of television with our lists of the top 100 female characters of all time, the ladies of sci-fi, and many more.

Now it's time to salute another group of TV women who are marvelous in their own right: the stars of reality TV.

You love to hate them or hate to love them, and some you can't help but appreciate unconditionally -- no hate involved. From a cheftestant on 'Top Chef' to a 'Survivor,' here are our favorite reality TV ladies.

Carla HallCarla Hall, Most Lovable
In two seasons of 'Top Chef,' Carla managed to endear herself so much to viewers that we voted her Most Lovable. From the ready-made catchphrase ("Hootie hoo!") to the frequent GIF-worthy mannerisms, Carla's presence on 'Top Chef' has been a great thing for reality TV.

Whenever she shows up on 'Today' with Kathie Lee and Hoda, her energy flies from the TV set and fills our hearts with joy. Her unabashed appreciation of food and passion for cooking with love should be a universal movement. It's only a matter of time before she lands her own show -- and of course we'll be watching!

TrishelleTrishelle Cannatella, Most Likely to Appear in Another C-List Horror Movie
This vixen helped redefine 'The Real World' and is responsible for starting the current sexy/trashy reality TV movement. Trishelle extended her 15 minutes of fame with stints on other reality shows such as MTV's 'Real World / Road Rules' competitions, 'The Surreal Life,' 'Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling' and 'Kill Reality,' during which she and other reality "all-stars" filmed a horror flick. As far as non-reality roles, Trishelle appeared in 'Ninja Cheerleaders' and 'Criminal Minds.'

OmarosaOmarosa, Biggest Troublemaker
The 'Apprentice' and 'Surreal Life' alumna is the ultimate reality villain -- on more than one show. During appearances on those two shows, plus 'The Celebrity Apprentice' and 'Fear Factor,' she proved that villainy is her brand and no one else does it better.

Bethenny FrankelBethenny Frankel, Most Likely to Succeed
Through her keen business sense and a sharp wit, Bethenny emerged from the shadow of 'Real Housewives of New York City' and blossomed into a single-name pop culture icon. Thanks in part to her franchise of books and alcoholic drinks, the Bravo star is now a virtual household name.

If 'Bethenny Ever After' is any indication, Bethenny will outlast many of her 'Real Housewives' counterparts in the public eye.

Elisabeth HasselbeckElisabeth Hasselbeck, Most Opinionated
Hasselbeck took a stint on 'Survivor' and turned it into a full-time gig on a national talk show. This woman always has something to say, and now she gets to on a daily basis on 'The View.'

Kate GosselinKate Gosselin, Top Drama Mama
You don't get more polarizing than Kate Gosselin. The mom of eight has made a name for herself being just that -- a mom of eight. After her marriage imploded, Gosselin didn't shy away from the public eye and instead seized the moment, winding up on the top-rated show on TV, 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Fans either love Gosselin for being a hardworking mom trying to provide for her family by letting cameras follow their lives, or hate her for being a fame-hungry attention junkie and letting cameras follow their lives. One thing is for sure: Where Kate goes, drama goes.

SnookiSnooki, Most Popular (at the Moment)
Our 'Jersey Shore' darling is the current It Girl. Something tells us that after her MTV series fades into oblivion, Snooks will make a valiant attempt to hold on to her reality fame. She's already widening her audience by transitioning to the WWE; is anything out of the question to maintain her Queen Bee status?

Jennifer HudsonJennifer Hudson, Most Likely to Win Another Oscar
From 'American Idol' contestant to Oscar winner in just a few short years, J-Hud is a reality woman to watch. She's captured the public's attention recently with a new album and dramatic weight loss, but please, Jen, how about some more films?

Who's uglier, Snooki or Bethenny Frankel. I make up my mind which is worse.
