Vera Wang Loves Food Courts, Chelsea Handler Wants One With Alchohol (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 23rd 2011 2:06AM
Vera Wang, 'Chelsea Lately'If you want to catch the eye of a world-class designer, it turns out all you need to do is hang out at the food court in your local mall. That's where Vera Wang likes to hang out, according to her appearance on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). What's their appeal?

"I can work my way all the way around the world in ten minutes," she said of the varied cuisine available in most mall food courts. "I can go from Chinese to Spanish to pizza to smoothies all in a matter of three seconds."

That's all fine and dandy, and we do wonder where Wang is fitting all that food on her tiny frame, but there's still one thing missing from the food court experience.

"If you can find a food court that sells alcohol, let me know about it," Chelsea Handler said.

"I know," Wang agreed. "I haven't found one of those yet."

Is this what is meant when people say Americans have been dumbed down? To put your minds at ease I'll let you in on an apparent secret.....it's a joke, a J-O-K-E, you know, something said in jest. In other words, she was not serious. No one was actually suggesting alcohol be sold at mall food courts.
I'm not a big fan of Handler's and I don't drink any alcohol but good grief, chill people.

Booz in the food courts??? NO, NO, it don't even belong in the grocery store. I don't dring any more ever since I developed an allergy to what ever is in them, hard stuff and wine--can't drink them any more. But every once in a while I want to make a nice dinner and I need wine to cook with and in the grocery store they are as ignorant as I am to knowing their stock and what they are good for?? You can't get any help in chosing a wine, up in NY I use to go to the wine + store to buy diferent drinks and they always knew what I needed for what dish, they even had ideas to offer, this is such a wonderful store. BUT down here in NC this backwards place don't have anything like that, let alone decent variety of food choices in the stores.

There is enough conflict going on in malls without adding alcohol to the situation. There are security guards always stopping would be thieves, people starting fights, just trouble makers in general. adding booze to the situation is just like having a bar in the mall. NO thank you Chelsea handler. go drink at home. She's a trouble maker. and so good at it. She needs alcohol well then go buy a bottle and sit in your studio and drink it. Disgusting! Another thing we need to add to the pot to stir things up! What a kook she is! Get a life Chelsea stay out of others lives! Troublemaker.

Now that's just dumb. A mall food court is no place to be serving alcohol. Most malls have a restaurant chain within them where you can go to consume alcohol, if you can't handle shopping without having to have a drink! It's inevitable that you'll eventually be climbing into your car after shopping. These lots have plenty of cars in them. No need to have somone playing bumper cars because they have a snoot full! Also, think about the hazard of walking to your car and having someone flying through the lot because they're drunk!!! If the argument is that people can drink responsibly, then why propose alcohol in a food court? Wait to go elsewhere to a bar. You don't need a drink at this very minute!!!!

Chelsea comes off as a boring drunk to me. She needs to find a local aa meeting and get her act together.

Actually, the Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise FL has beer and wine at their food court.

I'm also thinking the United States is the only country where you cannot purchase beer and wine at a shopping mall or outdoor food market.

Get real.

This is ONLY a problem in the puritanical United States. In other countries there is beer and wine available everywhere - including KFC chicken places (the US is the only country in the world where KFC doesn't sell beer).

That's our nanny state working for us. I just love being told what to do and when to do it. Saves me a lot of stress. (and, yes, I'm being sarcastic)
