Blake Lewis: 'Pia Toscano, It's Time for a Shocker'
Motown, baby!!!!!Last night on 'Idol' it was all Motown, the legend of Berry Gordy. I was really excited because this season of 'American Idol' has some of the greatest vocalists with soul! I am really, really enjoying 'Idol' this year, and last night did not disappoint.
Casey Abrams opened it up with "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." I thought it was a perfect choice, but like I say every week, I'm still missing the softer side of his vocals. I want to see the jazz come out. The cool, vibe-y side I know he has.
I think Jacob Lusk was my favorite last night. The dynamics of his performance were perfection. I loved how he listened to the judges and Jimmy Iovine. He held back and it paid off. Flawless performance and hugs from everyone.
I really enjoyed Lauren Alaina singing "You Keep Me Hangin' On." Great vocal performance and she really worked the crowd. I like how she brought her attitude out and played with it 'till the end.
J.Lo said it best for Stefano. He really needs to connect with the song. He is one hell of a singer and I really hope he makes it further.
Scott McCreery singing Motown was Scott McCreery singing Motown. He did what he could with it and it wasn't bad. He needs to work on his interesting facial contortions and his finger pointing; it's a little awkward at times, but we all have stage ticks. I was a pointer too, ha ha. He will do great in country music if he really learns how to perform.
Pia sounded great, but I was really hoping for an up-tempo song from her this week. We all know she can sing the pants off a ballad, now it's time for a shocker.
Highlights: Naima was dancing away with "Dancing in the Street." She really commanded the stage. It was beautiful.
Who is going home??? I thought it would be Haley last week, but I was wrong. She has a great voice, but she sometimes seems unsure of it through her performances. Will she be the one sent home?
Love and happiness,
Blake
