Carol Burnett Recalls Elizabeth Taylor's Practical Joke on 'All My Children' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 24th 2011 4:45AM
Elizabeth Taylor on 'All My Children'As a longtime friend of Elizabeth Taylor's, Carol Burnett recalled her great sense of humor. Burnett, appearing on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), recounted a particular prank that Taylor played during live filming.

In 1983, Burnett appeared on 'All My Children.' During a scene with Eileen Herlie, "all of a sudden out of the blue, which was not in the script, there is somebody in the charwoman scrub-woman outfit" -- one of her characters from 'The Carol Burnett Show.' It was Taylor.

"I like how you don't break [character], but you look stunned," said Jay Leno before showing the clip.

My comment about all my children is that i have watched this program for 41 years faithfully even when i gave up on all the other soaps, but recently i have benn thinking about writing to you folks as when i went on line and saw this i decided it was a good time to express my great great dissapointment in the program. I don't know if its since you moved to LA or all the new or replacing characters but the stories themselves on boring and to drawn out.Anne missing for week a great character shows up then gone again. It has become to much like general hospital, a gangster sgow. Taking off Zack BIG MISTAKE,David man of 1200 lives BIG MISTAKE some things very poorly done. Not Happy Viewer

Dame Elizabeth Taylor was beautiful inside and out!! She was one of the last glamorous stars; she will be missed for so many reasons. Her fabulous acting ability; her determined passion to bring HIV-AIDS to the forefront; her love for her dear friends, which never waivered. She supported causes that were not in the news; her private life was splashed all over the rags - it was difficult to rise above the nasty banter, but she tried to keep her children out of the spotlight so their lives could be as "normal" as possible.
I loved her in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Taming of the Shrew," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf."
"Maggie, The Cat" was the highlight of her acting career; yet, so many passed her on this fantastic movie with it's unbelievable ensemble cast!! Yes, I will miss this wondrous woman for so many reasons!!

I agree Taylor was beautiful inside and out. If you want to see one of the best films she ever did buy "Suddenly Last Summer". It is a filled with a great cast , Katharine Hepburn, Montgomery Clift, and Mercedes McCambridge. Tennessee Williams and Gore Vidal writting is a work of art. It is a great movie.

Carol Burnett was the funniest comic. I tried to see everyshow she did. She was an entertainer in the strongest sense of the word. Comics like Carol Burnett, did not rely on filthy language and character assassination to get a laugh. They were truly talented people. Also Hollywood's great actresses like Elizabeth Taylor will be missed. Ms. Taylor will be remembered as one of Hollywood's few beautiful actresses. She had class , as did many of her era, and that is something most of today's stars lack. She really understood how the press could destroy a person as they did Michael Jackson. Even to this day, he is still accused by some as a child molester even though he was acquitted. He didn't fit into a mold of a person his age and he certainly didn't fit the profile of a pedofile-pervert. Since most of the perverts are older or middle aged white men.

CBS should throw One and a half men in the trash where it belongs. Instead they squeeze all they can out of a drug addicted drunk all the while exposing a young kid to all that trash he spouts. I guess anything for a buck and morales be dammed. You need ( CBS) to to show a real comedy with true comedians like Burnett and her co-stars that made her show a hit, show her re-runs and you'll have higher ratings. If you have to use vulgar smutty lines to be funny, your not, you aren't a comedian your just a dult running some morons writings. Carol Burnett yes!!!!!!!
stuff

Hi Sandra

You don't have to watch the show, so instead of spewing all the venom about someone you don't like, CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

Wow, some seem to know everything! Just because you see it in print doesn't make it true! If you don't have anything good to say, shut your mouth! Let the 1st person that really good, has never done anything bad, throw the 1st stone!

Hi Art & Nan

Sorry, wjms410, whether or not he molested children is for the courts to decide, but he got freaky as he aged, and - frankly - there are far more talented performers than "the gloved one"..
