Maya Rudolph Eyes Return to TV, ABC Announces Summer 2011 Schedule and More

Maya Rudolph'Saturday Night Live' veteran Maya Rudolph has booked a role in NBC's untitled working mom sitcom opposite Christina Applegate.

According to Deadline, Rudolph was approached with multiple pilot offers. In the Lorne Michaels-produced series, Rudolph will play the best friend and coworker of Applegate's working mom lead character.

Yesterday it was reported that Will Arnett is also attached to the sitcom.

In other TV news ...

'Jersey Shore' closed its season 3 with big ratings. The season finale didn't shatter any records, but it was seen by 7.6 million viewers. [TV By the Numbers]

'Heroes' star Adrian Pasdar has joined the cast of an NBC pilot. Pasdar will star opposite Sarah Paulson in an untitled workplace sitcom about a woman who guides employees through downsizings. [TV Guide]

FX and Oliver Stone are developing a conspiracy drama. The series follows a secret group, the Darkhorses, which manufactures fake news stories to service clients. [Deadline]

Woody Harrelson has joined 'Game Change.' Harrelson will play Steve Schmidt, John McCain's senior campaign strategist and manager, in the HBO movie that also stars Ed Harris and Julianne Moore. [TVLine]

Ben Lawson and Rena Sofer will guest star on USA Network's 'Covert Affairs.' Lawson will play a doctor and Sofer will play ex-wife to Peter Gallagher's Arthur. [TVLine]

ABC will roll out new seasons of hit summer shows 'Rookie Blue' and 'Bachelor Pad' this summer. Joining the shows is new war hospital drama 'The Hot Zone' and reality shows 'Take the Money and Run' (contestants go into hiding and try to outwit investigators for a chance to win some serious cash), '101 Ways to Leave a Game Show' (contestants answer multiple choice questions, if they get it wrong, they get ejected from the show in various fashions), 'Expedition Impossible' (think 'The Amazing Race' with teams of three) and 'America's Karaoke Challenge' (set at the Karaoke World Championships USA).
