Bill Massa of Synagro Gives Cindy Gifts That Touch Her Heart on 'Undercover Boss' (VIDEO)

Bill Massa Synagro, 'Undercover Boss'Bill Massa was a slightly different case study for 'Undercover Boss' (Sun., 9PM ET on CBS). He's only been the big boss at Synagro for about a year. In a way, the shortness of his tenure made it easier for him to slip undercover within the ranks of his company.

It also proved helpful to Massa as he was looking to reinvigorate the waste-treatment company into one that's more environmentally friendly and forward thinking. The show gave him a rare opportunity to analyze his company from top to bottom.

Of the four jobs he took on, he was most touched by Cindy, who works alone in a big plant that separates solid and liquid waste. While working with her, he learned about her grandson and her daughter, who received treatment for a brain tumor at St. Jude's Hospital.

Massa surprised her with a $5,000 college fund for her grandson, and a company donation to St. Jude's in her name for $10,000.

"Things like this don't happen to me," Cindy said afterward. "They've never happened to me before ... This is so great."
