Dean McDermoot, Kit Hoover, and Marcel Vigneron on 'Access Hollywood Live'Former 'Top Chef' contestant Marcel Vigneron was on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) to demonstrate an unusual cooking technique. Vigneron used liquid nitrogen to make some Rice Krispies treats.

So why liquid nitrogen, you may well ask? And so guest host Dean McDermott did ask. "Because it is negative 320 degrees Fahrenheit," said Vigneron. It's so cold, he said, that it could actually burn your skin. Vigneron used the liquid nitrogen to "cook" the treats and poured a little on the counter to make some fog for a visual effect.

When he was done, McDermott, Vigneron and host Kit Hoover took a few bites, despite the hosts' reservations about whether the food was safe. They breathed steam while they ate, which Vigernon blew through his nose.

"That's what happens when you play with your food," Vigneron said. "A little bit of science, a little bit of know-how, some creativity."
