'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' Stars Tease Proposals, STDs and Drama
It's been a long time (nearly six months!) since 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' (Monday, 8PM on ABC Family) aired all-new episodes. Who better to refresh your memory than the stars of the show themselves? We caught up with stars Shailene Woodley and Daren Kagasoff, who play teen parents Amy and Ricky, at the ABC Family upfronts to get the scoop on the new season.
The stars were tight-lipped, but Woodley did promise one thing would continue to make an appearance in the new episodes: drama.
"There's definitely a lot of drama," she said. "That's my go-to phrase to not say too much!"
"I'm super-excited. [This season is] going to be full of so much drama and secrets, and new things are happening," Woodley said. "There could possibly be a wedding. Someone might be falling in love with someone else. Really, there's a lot going on."
Kagasoff was a little more willing to open up. "I'll give you a little spoiler," he said. "We come back from summer vacation right back into the groove of things of high school drama. One of the big things is that Shailene's character, Amy, wants [Ricky] to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases."
As for the results of that test? Well, you'll have to tune in to find out.
In tonight's episode, we do know that Amy's going to be on bended knee -- with a proposal to Ricky."Amy definitely wants to move along quite quickly and progress their relationship in a very speedy manner," Woodley said.
And just to play with our emotions, Kagasoff said this about Ricky's response: "I can tell you it's definitely not a no, and it's definitely not a yes. Yeah, I'm not very helpful."
However, Kagasoff spilled some details on what's in store for Ricky the rest of the season. "I think he takes fatherhood in a different direction," he said. "He takes more initiative and responsibility for his baby, but I think you can't really change the person he is. But I've got hope for him."
And while Woodley was also mum on her upcoming proposal, she said Amy and Ricky will become much closer in the new episodes. "[Amy] definitely becomes more her own," she said. "She becomes a little more positive than she has been in the past. She develops greatly as a mother and greatly as a friend."
Tell us: Will you tune in to tonight's episode? Are you excited about the 24 all-new episodes headed your way?
