Letterman and Jack Hanna Feed a Dead Mouse to an Owl (VIDEO)

Owl Eats Mice on 'Late Show'A barn owl made itself comfortable on David Letterman's desk, thanks to zookeeper Jack Hanna. The surprisingly fluffy animal contentedly perused the studio audience as Hanna pulled out a plastic bag with "Biohazard" emblazoned on it. Inside were several dead mice.

"Watch how they eat 'em -- they eat a whole one," he said giddily on 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS). Sure enough, the bird swallowed the mouse whole (and headfirst).

Letterman gave an uncomfortable chuckle and said "Oh, my God!" over and over. Hanna passed another mouse to the host. Letterman dangled it in front of the owl's beak, and the bird swiftly helped himself.

"He's gettin' a little woozy," joked Letterman. Hanna replied, "He'll eat four or five, but I don't wanta push it."

This is a Great Horned Owl, not a Barn Ow.

this is not a barn or barred owl, it's a great horned owl youngster. Note the pale eye color,
dark stripped markings around the eyes, and dark beak.

are you kidding me..Letterman is the BEST...please don't tell me you're fans of that "middle of the road", bland Jay Leno. Leno is sooo boring and he is is terrible interviewer.... Letterman is KING.

Too bad they could not have fed Letterman to the owl. Better yet let him be eaten by an anaconda. He is OLD, probably constipated and Not at all Funny.
