Stephen Colbert Tried to Donate Jimmy Fallon's Money Without Asking Him (VIDEO)
Fans of 'The Colbert Report' know that Stephen Colbert recently raised $26,000 for Donors Choose at an art auction. They also know that he announced on his show that his "best friend for six months" Jimmy Fallon of 'Late Night' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC) would be matching that donation.Unfortunately, fans of 'The Colbert Report' knew more than Jimmy Fallon did. Tonight, he shared that clip with his audience and they applauded it. "But here's the thing," Fallon said. "I never said that."
At this, Colbert himself came onto the set to set the record straight. "If you can't donate $26,000 of your best friend's money without asking him first, then what's the point of being best friends?" he asked.
Ultimately, the pair came to an agreement. They set up a joint project at DonorsChoose.org, which you can find here. If they can raise $26,000 to match the money Colbert's painting earned at auction by Friday, April 1, then Colbert will sing Rebecca Black's 'Friday' with backing music by The Roots.
Both late night stars have been having a lot of fun with this "best friends for six months" they've put together for Donors Choose, and it's been even more fun for fans of late night television. We hope their best-friendship never ends, and we certainly hope they can raise the funds necessary to get Colbert singing Rebecca Black.
