MTV's 'Teen Wolf' Trailer Looks Pretty Great (Don't Judge Me)

Teen WolfMTV's 'Skins' experiment might not have gone as planned (or maybe it did, if the goal was to get the Parents Television Council riled up over a mediocre remake), but the network's 'Teen Wolf' actually looks like it could be a legitimate scripted hit.

The new three-minute trailer for the series, which premieres Sunday, June 5, at 11PM ET, is very blue-filter-heavy -- which probably lends to the 'Twilight'-y vibe our friends at Vulture pointed out -- but also looks ... kind of awesome?

There's plenty of angst, sexual frustration, action, not-too-shabby special effects, and did I mention angst? (I love angst.) Plus, some inoffensively cute boys playing dangerous mythical beasts with hyper-aware senses -- basically everything you need for a successful teen franchise nowadays. Suspiciously, there's no basketball; it seems teen wolves are into lacrosse nowadays.

really?
why steal the title from a lighthearted, fun film made 10 years before the target audience of this twilight cash-in was even born? i understand the recent teenage supernatural trend from a financial standpoint but it's kind of sad they need to try to cash in on nostalgia with people for an old film with a title that has a tenuous connection to the original at best. if you're in your late 30's or early 40's the title teen wolf may actually mean something to you and this is not it, but the teen and early 20's target audience would be fine watching this if it had a different title. i guess twilightish-lacrosse-shirtless-abs-angst wolf must be too long a title for tv so feel free to loot my childhood memories and M.J. Fox's career for name recognition. maybe next season we can get bright lights, big city... the story of a passively attractive vampire in new york dealing with all the neon around the east village.

If they called it something other than "Teen Wolf" I would have been OK with it, I guess; This is too serious to carry that title. Looks like Vampire Diaries to me. No Basketball? SACRILEGE!
