'Glee' News: Sue Sylvester Does David Bowie

by Catherine Lawson, posted Mar 31st 2011 8:35AM
Sue Sylvester, 'Glee'In episodes past on 'Glee' we've seen Sue Sylvester channeling Madonna and Olivia Newton-John, and now comes news that she's tapping into her inner Major Tom by taking on David Bowie.

Jane Lynch, who plays the scheming cheerleading coach, told 'Access Hollywood' that "I'm dressing up as David Bowie today. ... Sue Sylvester is going incognito as David Bowie. I mean, come on. Who gets this kind of stuff?"

However, Lynch stopped short of revealing any details about Sue's Bowie look. With the singer's myriad of alter egos to choose from, it's hard to say just which one will appear on screen, though we're pretty sure the outfit will be sweatpants-free.

Could Sue be ditching the gym clothes in favor of a tux, à la 'Serious Moonlight'? Or how about the androgynous Ziggy Stardust's make-up and hair? Or will she stalk the halls of McKinley High dressed as the 'Ashes to Ashes' clown?

Previously best-known for her roles in Christopher Guest movies like 'Best in Show,' Lynch has reached a new high with her work on 'Glee.' The hit musical comedy has brought her new fame and accolades, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe, and she seems to be loving every minute of it.

Lynch credited the success of Sue and 'Glee' to their creator, Ryan Murphy: "[He] is the evil scientist that is creating all of this and I just love him for it. ... I get handed something every week that's just insane and hilarious." She also thanked co-writer Ian Brennan, joking that: "He writes almost everything that comes out of my mouth, and it's kind of his inner mean girl."

Lynch also said that she'd like some more strong women to make guest appearances on 'Glee' -- "I'd love to have somebody like Tyne Daly, some real kind of Broadway broad doing the 11 o'clock number ... Megan Mullally, some real kind of brassy broad to do like bosom buddies with."

'Glee' airs Tuesdays, 8PM ET on FOX.
