The Shortest Engagement in History on 'Mobbed' Special (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 1st 2011 1:56AM
Quick Engagement, 'Mobbed'Flash mobs have become a thing of pop culture, often getting huge hits on the Internet. You just never know when one might break out around you, with people singing and/or dancing. But on Howie Mandel's 'Mobbed' (Thu., 9PM ET on FOX) special, they took the premise to a whole new level.

Mostly by eliminating the spontaneous "flash" part of the concept. Instead, these were intricately choreographed and planned mob moments, but they were no less spectacular and epic in their execution.

Take the woman who was stunned when a mob erupted around her, complete with acrobats, singing and dance. She was completely stunned, and even more when a reveal showed her boyfriend. He proposed on the spot and then stunned her again after she agreed.

"Why don't we do it right now," he said. "Why don't we get married right here, right now."

The bride-to-be was in shock, but went along with it as a dress came out and was put on her, while a white carpet was pulled for them to walk down. Everything was considered, including their families, who were present for their nuptials.

Sure, it was a whirlwind engagement lasting only a few minutes, but what a memorable experience they'll be able to cherish for a lifetime.

This is the WORST show premise I have ever seen. I hope this goes away, immediately!

I loved the show!!! I was ready to cry lol but i nwas just kinda mad that she had to get married the same day? She shouldve gotten proposed to, given 6 to 9 months to plan how she wanted it, and then yall do the wedding and give them a honeymoon for free!!! :)

People are WAY too into sensationalism. I stopped watching Extreme Home Makeover when i saw they were choosing more and more extraordinary cases. I don't like being manipulated by television shows. I think it's more honest to find needy people and not try to top themselves every single week. This person just lost their husband in the war, well, THIS person lost their entire family, well THIS person can't see or speak AND lost their entire family. Bleh...

I thought it was obnoxoius, overkill. It was impractical. She goes from thinking her boyfriend is cheating to the cops getting involved, her crying to this nutty song and dance number by 100 thousand people to a proposal. Ok, BREATHE....process what just happened, NOPE! You're getting married RIGHT NOW! Toss an ugly dress on her, DON'T button the damn thing, rob her of the joys of planning and seeing it come to fruition and thirty seconds later, you're married! Worst, most obnoxious show i've ever seen in my life.

I've watched the show twice now. It was fasinating. I would love to be "mobbed' but would not want to actually have to me married that quickly. Looks like they could have given her some time to get ready. I would feel cheated out of planning and having more control. But, it was something, great fun to watch.

EXACTLY! The way they hapharzdly tossed that dress on her without even buttoning it was just awful! Part of the sheer bliss of getting married is in the planning and watching it come to fruition. For instance, did she really want those particular bridesmaids to be in the ceremony? Did she want them wearing above the knee dresses and in those colors?? To me, it was like watching someone be robbed of a beautiful experience. The ceremony took what, 30 seconds? :/ I'd opt for a personal, customized and quiet ceremony over a giant production where i had zero control, any day.

I tried really hard not to like this, and annoying as Howie Mandel is, it was still pretty good...I'm sure it's an experieince the couple will remember for a very long time...Talk about "videoing" an event...Not to mention having all your arrangements taken care of...I hope they do a real wedding for just Family and Firends...just for the sake of keeping it real.

I was surprised that I actually liked the show! I just wondered how they could actually marry without a license.
