Elton John and Tom Hanks as Knights of the Realm on 'Saturday Night Live' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 4th 2011 1:06AM
Elton John & Tom Hanks, 'Saturday Night Live'In a rather silly sketch, even by 'Saturday Night Live' (Sat., 11:30PM ET on NBC) standards, the British Knights of the Realm are assembled to fight a dragon that's attacking London. Long ago, knights did just this sort of thing, but now their numbers include actors and other celebrities.

Which is how Sir Elton John found himself presiding over the likes of Sir Michael Caine (Tom Hanks), Sir Bono, Sir Mix-a-Lot -- get it!? -- and Ringo Starr. Actually, Ringo Starr hasn't been knighted which is a recurring theme of the sketch.

Within the context of the story John was able to poke fun at Sting's alleged prowess and longevity in the bedroom and even Bono's disastrous stage production.

"When artists put their souls together, they can accomplish anything," the U2 frontman said.

"Except a Spider-Man musical," John quipped.

How do you think Sir Elton John did in his 'SNL' hosting gig?

Would you sooner listen to Glenn Beck? At least he isn't harming anyone. And he is a good entertainer in the music industry. He also gives money for good causes.

SNL used to be worth watching. America is no longer impressed with this Elton John fellow. A real flamer has been.
