What to Watch: TV Picks for April 4 - 10

Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale - Monday April 4, 5PM ET, MTV Canada (Sunday April 3 in the US on MTV)
In an effort to drum up interest in her latest attempt at a comeback, Britney lets MTV cameras follow her around as she prepares to release her new album 'Femme Fatale.' We see her in the studio, at dance practice, filming videos and live on stage, and the action is interspersed with interviews. These days, Brit sounds like she always has a cold -- or is maybe about to cry. There is definitely something ... not right with her. The most shocking thing in the special: Britney is nearly 30 years old.
Also This Week:
The Great Food Truck Race - Tuesday April 5, 9PM ET/PT, Food
Cashing in on the recent uptick in street food interest, this new series is sort of an 'Amazing Race' of food trucks, as seven teams who operate really fancy chip wagons head out across the U.S. to sell as much as they can. Each week a losing team is eliminated, and eventually the winner gets a $50,000 prize.
Til Debt Do Us Part: Home Edition - Tuesday April 5, 9PM ET/PT, HGTV
Financial whiz Gail Vaz-Oxlade (of 'Til Debt To Us Part' and 'Princess') turns her sights on the specific debt issues faced by homeowners. Personally, I love these kinds of shows for making me feel better about the relatively harmless state of my own finances, but I have feeling 'Home Edition' will hit close to home, so to speak. From financing repairs on credit to managing mortgage payments, the press release for this show made me nervous. All HGTV needs now is 'Taxes: Freelance Writer Edition' and I'll be curled up in bed crying for all of spring.
Decked Out - Thursday April 7, 10PM ET/PT, HGTV
Speaking of spring, you know it's sprung when the new season of home shows start up. This one features outdoor makeovers, as surprisingly hip construction leader Paul Lafrance adds enormous and surreal decking to existing yards. This is true fantasy stuff, with decks that extend the square footage of the homes by what looks like double or triple. When I get jealous I'll just remind myself that Canadian summers only last about 3 months, and these people will be stuck back indoors soon enough.
My RONA Home - Sunday April 10 9PM ET/PT, Citytv
Season 2 of this successful series pits two desperate families against each other for the chance to win a dream house, but makes them build it together. As the two families live and work side by side over the weeks it takes to build two houses from scratch, the inevitable end can seem somewhat cruel -- only one of them can win. But if season 1 is anything to go by, the consolation prize is pretty good. If you liked Ty Pennington's and Debbie Travis' offerings, you'll like this one too.
