Will '30 Rock' End Next Season? Alec Baldwin Says It Will

by Jean Bentley, posted Apr 6th 2011 10:10AM
Alec BaldwinAlec Baldwin, while at a fund-raising gala in New York City last night, dropped some truly earth-shattering news to a reporter from Vulture -- as an afterthought, even.

Ready?

'30 Rock' will end after next season.

"I will tell you one thing," he told the reporter. "And that is our show -- next year is our last year of the show."

Though Baldwin has commented in the past that he didn't intend to stay on the NBC series after his contract expires in 2012 (maybe he'll run for office instead), no one from the show has discussed the fate of the entire series after his departure.

Tina Fey's rep declined to comment to Vulture, but Baldwin said, "Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great."

Since this was an off-the-cuff remark at a party, we can't take Baldwin's word as the absolute truth. But, honestly, could you picture a Jack Donaghy–less '30 Rock'? Liz Lemon's insecurities just wouldn't be as funny without her straight-man foil. Then again, can you picture a world without the 'TGS' gang?

Tell us: Would you be upset if '30 Rock' lasted just one more season? Will you watch if it goes on after Baldwin exits?

Baldwin said he'd leave the country if George Bush was reelected in 2008. He's still here, so I'd like to hear
from someone else about the future of the show.

HELLO! Baldwin said he'd leave the country if Bush was elected in 2000. Bush was ineligible to run in 2008. What country are you from?

It's the ONLY network program that I watch! I'll definitely miss Alec - and I hope that he'll not be stuck with only doing insurance commercials. Tina is a comedic genius, and I'd like to see the show continue.

Never watched a single episode. I personally can't stand Tina Fey. She sounds even more pathetic during interviews when she flies off on her "Oh I Was Such An Ugly Girl In School" rant. "Poor Me, No One Dated Me!" BOO F----ING HOO!! Enjoy your millions and dissapear like Rosanne Barr please.
