Disney Channel acqires the rights to a new comic book character and a vampire babysitter.Welcome to the Family TV Roundup, a recap of all kid-friendly programming across the television universe. We'll sum up all the news related to children's programming, as well as profile the people and shows your kids, tweens and teens are talking about.

Disney Channel continues to work on filling the gaps being left by 'Hannah Montana,' 'Wizards of Waverly Place' and perhaps 'The Suite Life on Deck.' Though it has many shows already in production, such as 'ANT Farm' and the new Debby Ryan series 'Jessie,' the cable outlet is always looking for new material.

The newest is simply known as 'Ditz,' an as-yet-unpublished comic book character created by veteran writer/artist Neal Adams, Disney Channel recently acquired the rights to develop 'Ditz' into a new live-action series.

The story revolves around a teenage girl and her guardian angel as they help other teens with their problems by possessing their bodies. Only one issue with this: when she takes over their bodies her own body's essence is lost, making her a ditz. Order is restored only when the situation is averted and she can return to her body.

'Sonny With a Chance' writer Steve Marmel is serving as showrunner for 'Ditz.' There is no timetable as to if or when the series will premiere on the Disney Channel schedule.

In addition to 'Ditz,' the network has acquired the rights to 'My Babysitter's A Vampire.' Premiering last year on Canada's Fresh TV, Disney will air the 90-minute movie and 13 episodes on Disney Channel and Disney XD sometime in the future. Here's a preview of what the show is all about.
