Katherine Heigl Returns to TV in HBO's 'Knitting Circle'
Katherine Heigl is making her return to TV, but not with a new series. The former 'Grey's Anatomy' actress will produce and star in an HBO movie.
According to Deadline, Heigl and her mother will produce an adaptation of Ann Hood's 'The Knitting Circle.' The project is being written by 'Dirty Sexy Money' creator Craig Wright.
Heigl will play the main character, a mother mourning the loss of her child. She turns to a knitting circle to help overcome the grief that has taken over her life.
This is Heigl's first TV role since leaving ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2010.
Controversy followed Heigl and the medical drama for years after she famously slammed the show's writers during the 2008–2009 season and removed herself from the Emmy race. Heigl returned to the show only to then leave for good; her last appearance was in January 2010.
Heigl has a few other projects in the works: 'New Year's Eve,' which hits theaters in December, and 'One for the Money,' which opens in January 2012.
