Tears for All as Ali Brown Donates to Harvest Home on 'Secret Millionaire' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 11th 2011 5:35AM
Ali Brown, 'Secret Millionaire'For the season finale of ABC's feel-good reality series 'Secret Millionaire' (Sun., 8PM ET), Ali Brown was able to help a charity in her own hometown. She connected with Harvest Home in Venice, California. It's a place for homeless pregnant women that provides room, board and the tools to better their lives.

When she went into the director's office, Brown was moved to tears even before her reveal. The charity's director, Jennifer Jenson, graciously handed her a box of tissues.

"This is why I love it here," she laughed. But it was Jenson's turn for tears when Brown revealed that she was a millionaire and handed over a check for $50,000.

"It really makes such a difference for us," Jenson said through tears of her own. This time, it was Brown's turn to pass the tissues.

Unbelievable that people could turn someone else's generosity into a negative thing. What are YOU doing at your income level to help others around you? Think about it. I love this show -- the impact it has on the givers, the receivers, and the viewers.

I can't believe some of the judgmental comments posted here. Why is everyone upset that she didn't give as much as another couple? Wealth is relative and most likely she is not as wealthy as the Curves couple and gave what she thought was right. How many of the commentors can say the same about their own charitable giving? The amount of money she gave away seems pretty sizable to me...at least she's GIVING.

Apparently the show limits the millionaires probably because of the charity tax issues. If you notice each show, the total amount to give is $100K. If it was a couple, it was more, which is why the Curves owners did that. There was one millionaire that I heard her say, that she will be back. I was impressed with her the most, when she helped those two little old ladies in the Love Kitchen.

I was disappointed with last night's show too. $10K and then $50K to the pregnant women home?? For those boys to go out to each homeless person and give, they are giving alot and endangering their lives (I mean you never about those homeless people). She should have given them more.

I cried when some of the charities got only $10,000. This coming from a "millioinaire." What's wrong with this show?

Is it better ti give one person one million or to give 100 people $10,000?
When people are down, any amount helps.
As far fake or not...I don't know, nor do I care..the people got money that they needed.

What a cheap *ss! $10K give-away for a millionaire? I spent an hour watching this for a donation of a "toaster"? Don't waste America's time for no pay-off.

Last week, the millionaires gave away alot of money. No Millionaire should give away less than $25K to EACH charity. Show should be called, "CHEAP MILLIONAIRE."

I think this was perhaps the best new show on TV. I tried to get my children and grandchildren to watch it to see how
the other half really lives. It is terribly sad to see such dire poverty here in America. I think a lot of people should do this on a smaller scale instead of letting the IRS take your money . You can write a donation off. The poverty and hopelessness of these people was so sad. America should wake up and take care of their own. There are going to be many more people like this as more and more companies leave the US and build their factories where they get cheaper labor and much lower taxes.

I love this show and I haven't seen this one yet, I will watch it later today. But I can't believe it's the season finale already. What's that about? Must be hard to find millionaires that like to give back.
I have talked to people about this show and i'm surprised to see how many others watch it, which is great and I have told the ones who haven't seen it to check it out and get the tissues ready.
I also get dissapointed at how some give low amounts like one man did to a lady for her company for $10,000 but then went on to give another a lot more and then gave the man that referre's the kids money for himself. i'm like ???? I know it's their money to give, but it does piss me off!
The Curves couple were amazing! They gave sooo much money to everyone and spread the wealth. They made the other millionaires look cheap lol. They seem like really good people, that one was a tear jerker.
The worst for me was the one that had the lady that went to the Love Kitchen with those sweet, cute twin older ladies that is a wonderful place, and then she helped decorate rooms for kid's dying of cancer. I cried through that whole episode, I thought I was going to break down crying!
I don't really cry at much but this show really does it for me!!!
